Yoga is a powerful way to restore balance and integrate mind, body and soul, and lead you to your own optimum health, self reliance, presence and awareness.

Vitalize offers one-to-one yoga sessions in a peaceful and private space in Chester City centre. Private yoga sessions are a great way to start, deepen or come back to your yoga practice. Personal instruction is an invaluable tool for all levels and experience. Sessions will be tailored to meet your individual needs and goals, based on your current health, lifestyle and body type.

Emma has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and qualified as a yoga teacher in 2016. Emma’s preferred style of yoga is Iyengar yoga which is suitable for all levels and abilities.

Iyengar yoga is internationally respected for its sophisticated understanding of the yoga asana (posture), precision, subtlety and breath awareness, in physical alignment focused practice. The method is safe and progressive, and postures are adjusted to meet the needs of each student.

Yoga involves a lot more than just physical postures. The other aspects of yogic philosophy, such as breathing (pranayama) and meditation techniques will help improve your wellbeing off the mat too. These can be explored depending on individual needs and wishes.


Why Get Personal Instruction?

Yoga was traditionally taught one-on-one so personal yoga instruction is the perfect learning environment. Emma can help you with posture alignment, modifications and with developing a balanced home practice. Since we're all blessed with unique skeletons and body structures, a pose that benefits one person might cause discomfort and harm to another. Emma can work closely with you to create a bespoke and tailor-made practice that meets your needs in a safe and enjoyable way. You'll have the opportunity to truly focus on your own practice and tune in to your body, and what it needs.

New students

New Students of yoga may find a large yoga class intimidating and confusing. Personal yoga instruction is a great way to introduce yourself to yoga practice without worrying about what the rest of the class is doing and ensure you are practicing in a safe way. Sessions will be conducted at your own pace, tailored to your physical abilities and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

More experienced students

More experienced students may feel that they are comfortable with a wide range of postures and sequences but want to be sure they are practicing them correctly which can be often difficult in a large class environment where the teacher’s attention is divided. Emma can help you with alignment, breathing and balance in your existing practice and give guidance on how to develop personal sequences you can practice at home.

All students

All students will benefit from gainer a deeper understanding of the history and purpose of yoga. Many people do not realise that yoga was developed as a preparation for effective meditation. Western society tends to focus on the physical benefits of yoga more than the mental and spiritual purposes of the practice.
